Cardano Announces XRP Integration with Lace Wallet Support

On June 14, 2025, Charles Hoskinson announced Cardano XRP integration by confirming XRP Lace Wallet support. The Lace Wallet will let users send, receive, and store XRP alongside ADA, Bitcoin, and other assets. This move adds XRP to Cardano’s native wallet for the first time. Users will be able to access XRP directly within the Cardano ecosystem, which marks a shift toward broader Hoskinson XRP support. The feature aims to simplify asset management for Cardano users who also hold XRP.

The announcement came as Cardano continues expanding compatibility with other blockchain tokens. Lace Wallet’s new asset coverage signals the first stage of direct Cardano XRP integration.

Ripple RLUSD and Cardano DeFi XRP Tools Under Discussion

Hoskinson also said that Cardano DeFi XRP tools are under review. These would involve potential uses of Ripple RLUSD, the stablecoin issued by Ripple. RLUSD may be integrated into Cardano’s decentralized finance protocols, expanding Cardano’s stablecoin options.

Using Ripple RLUSD in Cardano would support cross-chain liquidity. RLUSD is built for blockchain platforms and may help link Cardano DeFi XRP products to Ripple’s financial tools. This would give Cardano access to an established stablecoin system.

Other Cardano XRP integration ideas include using XRP as collateral in lending protocols or swaps in liquidity pools. These applications remain in development, with no confirmed dates or releases shared.

Glacier Airdrop May Involve XRP in Midnight Protocol

Hoskinson also indicated that Cardano Midnight protocol could feature XRP addresses in the upcoming Glacier airdrop. The airdrop will distribute NIGHT and DUST tokens to wallets from various blockchains. If implemented, this would mark the first time Cardano XRP integration reaches airdrop eligibility systems.

The Midnight protocol is Cardano’s privacy-focused initiative. It aims to support confidential apps and data protection tools. By expanding airdrop access to XRP holders, Cardano may involve more users across multiple networks.

The Glacier airdrop remains in preparation. However, the mention of XRP inclusion shows that Cardano XRP integration may expand beyond wallet access and into token distribution systems.

Cardano Opens DeFi to Bitcoin and Stablecoin Assets

Earlier this month, Cardano launched Cardinal, a protocol to bring Bitcoin liquidity into Cardano DeFi. This project lets BTC holders connect to decentralized apps on Cardano without moving their tokens off-chain. It was a step toward expanding DeFi access beyond ADA.

In another move, Hoskinson proposed using Cardano treasury funds to buy Bitcoin and stablecoins. He said these assets could bring long-term benefits to Cardano’s financial ecosystem. The proposal is still under discussion within the Cardano community.

These efforts support the same goal as Cardano XRP integration: improving external asset compatibility. Cardano is shifting toward a multi-chain system that allows more networks and tokens to interact with its infrastructure.

Hoskinson XRP Support Marks Change in Network Policy

The decision to support XRP follows years of tension between Hoskinson and the XRP community. Past disagreements included public statements during the Ripple SEC lawsuit and concerns over token alignment. However, the current Hoskinson XRP support shows a change in position.

On June 14, Hoskinson emphasized that the network is ready to support more assets and reduce separation from other ecosystems. He did not comment directly on the prior conflicts, but his update reflects new openness.

The integration of XRP in Lace Wallet and the possible use of Ripple RLUSD in DeFi apps are part of that shift. Cardano XRP integration now includes wallet features, DeFi tools, and potential airdrop access.
